    Brad Wilson, principal at Chelan High School in the Lake Chelan School District, was named this year鈥檚 Washington State Principal of the Year. Every year, the Association of Washington School Principals selects a state winner. Wilson will also be recognized at the national level by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). He will compete with winners from other states for the NASSP鈥檚 National Principal of the Year award.

    Megan Mauro, assistant principal at LaVenture Middle School in the Mount Vernon School District, was named this year鈥檚 Washington State Assistant Principal of the Year. Every year, the Association of Washington School Principals selects a state winner. Mauro will also be recognized at the national level by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), where she will compete with winners from other states for the NASSP鈥檚 National Assistant Principal of the Year award, announced in early April.

    Alexandria Haas, principal at McMicken Elementary in the Highline Public Schools, was named this year鈥檚 Washington State National Distinguished Principal. Every year, the National Association of Elementary School Principals recognizes one winner from each state. After reviewing nominations, Ms. Haas has been chosen to represent our state by the Association of Washington School Principals (51福利社).

    The United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) announces that high school students Ms. Ailani Savannah Baldwin and Ms. Khanh Le Doan will join Senator Patty Murray and Senator Maria Cantwell in representing Washington during the 59th annual USSYP Washington Week, to be held March 14 鈥 17, 2021. Ailani Baldwin of Vancouver and Khanh Doan of Everett were selected from among the state鈥檚 top student leaders to be part of the 104 national student delegation who will each also receive a $10,000 college scholarship for undergraduate study. Due to the pandemic, the 2021 program will break ground as the first-ever fully virtual Washington Week, and is designed to be a highly interactive and exciting education and leadership forum for the nation鈥檚 most outstanding student leaders.
